2012 L’Oréal Women of Worth award process begins

Nominations for the 2012 L’Oréal Paris Women of Worth Awards are now closed. Nominee applications were submitted via the Women of Worth website to nominate and honor women who stood out in their community for their non-profit deeds. The ten 2012 honorees will be announced in October.

The signature L’Oréal phrase, “Because I’m worth it,” came to life in a new way seven years ago when Women of Worth was established. To date, the program has honored 60 exceptional women.

L’Oréal Paris is committed to recognizing women who embody the dedication and spirit of volunteerism. Who is a Woman of Worth?

“She's an inspiring volunteer, an outstanding achiever, and a beautiful person who's making a difference in her community. She sees a need around her and doesn't hesitate to get involved. Whether she's empowering women, mentoring children, helping survivors to heal and advocating for seniors, her efforts are tireless. Her spirit is unbreakable. A Woman of Worth is someone who saw a need in her community and took action. She's a role model and living proof that all women are worth it. You know her!” said the company.

Honorees will be chosen by a panel of high-profile judges that demonstrate the same admirable qualities—devotion to community, a strong sense of self and outstanding achievements. Ozworks president Lisa Oz, Telemundo chief operating officer Jacqueline Hernandez, CNN American Morning anchor Soledad O’Brien and L’Oréal Paris president Karen Fondu.

Each honoree will receive a $10,000 donation to her non-profit organization. The National Honoree, voted by the public, will receive an additional donation of $25,000 from L’Oréal Paris in her name, at an awards ceremony held in New York City.
