From December 6 to 9, Art Basel Miami Beach is taking over the coastal resort city. 2012 marks the 11th edition of the most influential art festival in the Americas and promises over 260 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa. The four-day extravaganza will include a plethora of unique events.

This year’s Art Basel will showcase the works of more than 2,000 artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. The participating galleries are among the world’s most accomplished art dealers and will be showcasing extraordinary pieces by well-known artist and progressive newcomers. Guests and art connoisseurs will enjoy exceptional exhibitions boasting young galleries, performance art, public art projects, Art Basel Conversations and outdoor Art Video Nights featuring eight different screenings. The Miami Beach experience will kick off on December 5th with the Art Public Opening Night featuring special performances by Jason and Alicia Hall Moran, My Barbarian and Alex Israel.

The 2012 edition will merge art and technology with the new Art Basel Miami Beach app availablefor the iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry. The app will allow users to search and browse the galleries and artists and discover exhibitions sectors and the event itinerary. The interactive Map will help guests navigate through the exhibitions halls to locate specific galleries and artists or users can use the app to view over 2,000 images of artwork from the show and organize them as favorites.

As the event has grown by 50% since its inception in 2002, top-notch exhibitions in the museums of South Florida and art programs for collectors and curators continue to help make it a memorable experience. Art Basel Miami Beach is the favorite winter meeting spot for the international art world.
