3 Top Designers Show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia

While it’s been some time since Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has been on our minds, it has been making some noise on a land far, far away — The Land Down Under, to be exact. From seasoned vets such as Lisa Ho and Alice McCall to up-and-comers including Michael Lo Sordo and Karla Spetic, Australia’s best designers have been showing their finest spring and summer 2013/2014 collections.

Lisa Ho

Three words come to mind when recalling Lisa Ho’s spring and summer 2013/2014 collection: fresh, refined and, of course, lux. Led by Australian supermodel, Montana Cox, models strutted up and down the catwalk sporting a wardrobe of immaculate tailoring, sculptural detail, fresh silhouettes, seductive cutouts and sheer paneling. The color palate maintained an overall soft feel of whites and blues, even with her prints — and it wouldn’t be a Lisa Ho show without some amazing prints — the collection had very relaxed, undone easiness about it.

Easton Pearson

Known for its vibrant colors and loud prints, Easton Pearson is always a show worth keeping an eye out for — and this season’s collection did not disappoint onlookers. One part whimsical, one part feminine and two parts adventurous, the 2013/2014 spring and summer collection is not for the mild-mannered fashionista. It had fun with colors and patterns, played with mixed media and was styled with bright make-up, neon beehive hair and statement piece jewelry. The collection is without a doubt made be worn in the sun, especially the iridescent pieces, and gives a fashion spin on the phrase, “fun in the sun.”

Michael Lo Sordo

Michael Lo Sordo has been touted as a designer to watch — and with his spring and summer 2013/2014 collection, this up-and-comer in the Land Down Under showed why. Perfectly tailored with an androgynous feel, his collection was primarily blues, black and white and incorporated tastes of leather. Not the typical spring and summer 2013/ 2014 collection of flowy dresses and short skirts, his looks were tailored for the working woman who stays stylish with blazers, trousers and pencil skirts throughout the year.
