LUX TIP: Sleep is an Essential Part of Your Beauty Routine

Often in our busy and LUX lifestyles we forget about the ‘key’ parts of our own self-care routine that allows us to have the energy and the fuel to truly sustain the rhythm of our life.

One of the biggest things women overlook in regards to their beauty routine is the amount of sleep they schedule in each night. It’s as if we think a car is able to run on empty forever. Well LUXies, we’re here to remind you that sleep is more than a LUX-ury item; it’s an essential KEY to truly living a FULL, HAPPY life.

Our aim in writing this post is so know that YOU, are the most important feature in your life, so if you’re not cared for then you’ll never be able to reach your full potential. So open your hearts and your minds and hear this message from how it’s written with LOVE and CARE for your continued well-being.

Did you know that it takes about 8-hours to rejuvenate your skin while you sleep? Well, it does and that means we aren’t just sleeping for our own health and energy, we’re also allowing our body to do the necessary repairs and healing cycles needed to keep us fit! Who knew that sleep was such a glorified must?

“Getting sufficient sleep is critical to the healthy-aging regimen, because, as mentioned, our cells undergo a process of repair. In addition, when we look at the hormone parameters during sleep, we find that growth hormone is released during sleep—and growth hormone is the youth hormone.” –states Dr. Perricone for the HuffingtonPost.com.

If you’re looking for radiant skin, you simply need to make sure to clock 8-10 hours of much-needed rest to do the trick. Sleep allows for your skin to become luminous and improve in both tone and texture, according to Dr. Nicolas Perricone, board certified MD.

Sleep also helps you to stay cognitively active and reduces the ‘negative effects of cortisol and dangerous neurotransmitters’ that elevate our anxiety and stress levels. Remember, it isn’t about just the amount of sleep, but the quality is important as well. This means you need to be able to truly relax and gain some good, uninterrupted sleep during these hours.

“According to a fascinating research study that took place in Japan, woman who regularly had six hours’ sleep or less every night were 62 percent more likely to have breast cancer compared to those who slept seven hours.” –huffingtonpost.com post by Dr. Nicolas Perricone.

Don’t drink alcoholic beverages right before bedtime because it can affect the quality and type of sleep you experience. Caffeine and exercise are also two things that are to be avoided right before you get some shut-eye. The key is to allow your body to gradually get ready for the rest and repair, while also allowing for the full 8 hours of sleep during that time.

So next time you’re looking to find more time in your schedule, be sure to keep those essential 8 hours allotted for your skin, body and health rejuvenation in the bed! Your life thanks you in advance!
