Apple Wanting Bigger Piece Of The Pie, Set to Raise iTunes Prices

The days of delicious little 99 cent downloads are about to come to a close. While the date has not been confirmed, it is rumored that as of April 7th Apple will be charging $1.29 for their iTune tracks, breaking the psychological barrier of spending less than a buck for a song.

“This will be a PR nightmare,” predicted former EMI Music executive Ted Cohen, who is managing partner of digital media consulting firm TAG Strategic. “It is for the music industry what the AIG bonuses are for the insurance industry.”

Personally, I find this quite irritating. It seems hard to believe that Apple could be struggling in any revenue category and honestly, it feels greedy to raise the cost right now. With the current economic conditions forcing many to cut back to make ends meet, at least we can all rely on music for pleasure and enjoyment! Music is such a powerful tool and provides positive, economical therapy! Don’t make this less accessible!!

I want to know how you LUXers feel about this. Do you think it is a good thing? Are you irritated as well?
