Beverly Hills celebrates fashion on Saturday
This Saturday, fashionable Angelenos have the chance to attend the Beverly Hills Fashion Festival, which features runway shows by Elie Tahari, Teresa Rosati and William Rast, as well as a show by Los Angeles-retailer H. Lorenzo.
Besides showing off the latest styles, it’s also a chance to give back: Each presentation is partnered with a nonprofit cause.
Elie Tahari is showing off her luxurious evening fashions with a nod to the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design Scholarship Fund. Teresa Rosati, a Poland-born designer that is making her American debut at the festival, is donating a portion of the proceeds from tickets to her show to St. Vincent’s Meals on Wheels. St. Vincent’s Cart For A Cause gourmet food station will be serving up freshly made meals before and after Rosati’s show, with 100 percent of the food earnings benefitting the charity.
Some may not be immediately familiar with William Rast, but the backers’ names might ring a bell. The denim brand was founded in 2005 by Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala. Born and bred in Los Angeles, the brand made its debut at LA Fashion Week in 2006. In fall 2009, the Americana-styled denim brand had its first presentation at Bryant Park.
Portions of sales from Rast’s show will benefit The Teddy Bear Clinic, The Linor Documentary Project and the LA chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which seeks to develop a cure and improve the quality of life for those with the disease. The Teddy Bear Clinic is a nonprofit that protects and rehabilitates abused children; The Linor Project, founded by rape survivor Linor Abargil, seeks to reach out to fellow rape survivors and document on film Abargil’s journey as she travels the world, speaking out.
The LA-based designer boutique H. Lorenzo is known for curating the best of international fashion, with a focus on avant-garde trends. Sales from its show will likewise go to The Teddy Bear Clinic and The Linor Project.
The extravaganza takes place in a tented area adjacent to the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The presentations start at 3 p.m. and the event closes its doors after the last show, which starts at 9 p.m. However, the party won’t be over. Eventgoers can head to the aftercelebration at Voyeur in Hollywood.
