Bras give ‘big support’ for charity

In England, designers and celebrities are coming together for a unique project: bra-making. The Big Bra Auction, which runs from Feb. 13 to Feb. 28, lets people bid on bras that have been designed by big names in the U.K., such as Isla Fischer, to raise money for Cancerkin (a breast cancer nonprofit) and the Jewish Community Centre in London.

The Jewish Community Centre’s website gives a sneak peek of a couple of the bras. One in particular stands out: Covered in feathers, the green masterpiece was handmade by milliner Nerida Fraiman and said to be worth more than $2,000.

Other celebrities involved include actress Joanna Lumley, comedian Helen Lederer, TV journalist Claudia Winkleman, journalist Esther Rantzen, actress Maureen Lipman and actress/model Kelly Brook.

All the money from the bidding goes to the Jewish Community Centre and Cancerkin, which provide free services for breast cancer patients in London and its surrounding counties.
