Chanel No.5 bottle to don Musée d’Orsay in Paris

A handmade, sequin-covered advertisement of Chanel No.5, arguably one of the most famous fragrances in the world, will pose on the Musée d’Orsay in Paris from Jan. 6 to Jan. 26.

The art museum, which houses Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works by Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh and others, is letting the sparkling banner cover 2,890 square feet of its exterior.

While passers-by on Paris’ left bank take in the beautiful Beaux-Arts architecture, they might subconsciously owe their next perfume purchase to the museum’s use of product placement.
