Copenhagen Fashion Week Beats Retail Blues with Extended Runway Schedule

Copenhagen Fashion Week just concluded with its largest runway schedule ever!! Ending on August 9th, it seems a record 42 shows shared the stage by making it the biggest fashion event Copenhagen has seen yet!

Composed mostly of Danish designers, it drew more than 55,799 visitors over the 5-day fashion fête!! Though numbers were lower then last year, it still proved hopeful!!

Some first timers included: Boss Orange, Minimarket, and Carin Wester.

“This is the time to be visible, to be out there,” said Eva Kruse, executive director of the Danish Fashion Institute. “Going through the fashion fairs, we’re likely see smaller collections, cut prices and even adjustments in the manufacturing process to accommodate buyers’ lowered budgets — anything that can bring costs down.”

Speculated trends pointed to ‘oversize box silhouettes with slim bottoms, one-shoulder looks, pleating and zipper detail.’ The color palette for spring fashion reflects a more ‘intense shade of salmon and peach’ as well as some gray becoming the new ‘go-to’ neutral, ranging from silver to charcoal.
