Fashion designers collaborate on iPhone cases

Tomorrow, on Oct. 15, Power Support USA, a company that sells Apple accessories, will debut a new collection of iPhone covers designed by fashion designers Tibi, Rory Beca and Rachel Pally.

Tibi, designed by Amy Smilovic, is known for its bright, mesmerizing floral patterns on staple shapes such as A-line skirts and sheath dresses. An iPhone user herself, Smilovic was excited to get involved with the project.

“I adore fashion, style and my iPhone,” she said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that our new designs add a fabulous new stylish element to our lives.”

Rachel Pally isn’t exactly known for high-tech gear. Inspired by her days as a dancer, her clothes have movement and fluidity. Jersey dresses in bright hues and classic lengths make her pieces perfect for the California casual gal. Just like her fashion, her phone cover mimics the laid-back yet cool styles of Angelenos, featuring animal prints and palm fronds.

“It is exciting to incorporate a bit of flair to the tech gadgets I rely on ... especially with a Rachel Pally signature print,” the Los Angeles-based designer said in press release. “Always chic!”

Similarly to Pally, Rory Beca is known for comfortable, chic pieces in neutral, natural fabrics such as cashmere or silk. Her most recent collection has a punk-rock-meets-fashionista-meets-ballerina feel, with harem pants and pink silk mixed in among shoulder pads, exposed zippers and funky cut-out sweaters.

She brought this funk to her case, which features modern florals in watercolorlike prints.

“I am constantly inspired by color and prints, whether it is a piece of art or a vintage fabric. So being able to have this phone accessory is an extension of that,” she said in the release.
