Harper Bazaar Spotlights Global Warming in March ‘10 Issue

In the up and coming March issue of Harper Bazaar, it seems our planet’s health and temperature is once again gaining featured attention.

Talk about making a fashion statement, this ‘Global Warming’ piece doesn’t leave much to the imagination, though we do have to say that Eniko Mihalik conveys both the seriousness and sex appeal needed for this shoot to be successful.

The opening statement of the piece begins with ‘The New World Order means that fashion needs utilitarian function—and a touch of fantasy.’—Harper Bazzar, March 2010.

They even embedded the American Flag in the cover shot, see above, and we hope the message inspires us, Americans, to realize we’re just as much a part of the solution as we are in contributing to the current environmental challenge.

Using fashion to make an eco-statement is nothing new, but with this feature we felt called to share. From the overtones of living in the desert and using very military-inspired designs, it definitely leaves some to wonder what role fashion will hold as our planet’s temperature rises. Though, we loved the image of lingerie incorporated into the everyday wear, we found this to be an interesting twist on daytime attire.

Captured by the photo-genius, Peter Lindbergh, this piece will definitely be one that gets people talking!

What do you think LUXies? Do you like the idea of using fashion to convey eco-causes?
