Hong-Kong Harbor Transformed by American Artist. Richard Prince

American artist, Richard Prince showcases his work of art on a large ‘building’ canvas, transforming the harbor of Hong Kong.

This masterful display is the first public installation of this kind and kicks off the 17th annual French May Arts Festival. His ‘After Dark’ series ‘wraps’ the exterior walls of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the host of Louis Vuitton’s new art show, “Vuitton: A Passion for Creation!” Prince is best known for his work with brilliant designer, Marc Jacobs.

The images are created using “re-photography,” a process Prince described as “resemblance more than reproduction. A re-photograph is essentially an appropriation of what’s already real about an existing image and an attempt to add on or additionalize this reality onto something more real — a virtuoso reality.” –wwd.com

Now you know the outside, what to expect from inside? The Louis Vuitton contemporary art exhibition is laid out in three segments, each offering a unique perspective, including a showcase of local Hong Kong artists. Overall, the collection will feature 23 artists and 25 video installations and runs through August 9th. Pack those bags and book that flight, LUXies, this is a display worth traveling for!
