July 15-19: Miami Swim 2011
July 15 kicks off the first day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011. Known for jump-starting the careers of swim designers in the U.S., this year boasts 13 rookies to the ever-growing roster with collections from all over the world. Held at the historic Raleigh hotel since the event’s inception in 2004, over 12,000 press, buyers and VIPs are expected to strut their stuff at the swim show. Not only is the show a great place to showcase up-and-coming artists, but there will also be plenty of big names there, such as Trina Turk and True Religion. Trina Turk is known for her great prints and classic cuts and just made her debut into swimwear three years ago, so it’ll be a fun treat for fashionistas to see what she has in store for beach wear as she kicks off as the first show on July 15. Beach Bunny Swim, which will show on July 16 at Cabaña Grande, was created by a former model and has now become the go-to bikini brand for celebs such as Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria. The Costa Mesa, Calif. native, Tyler Rose is known for her 1960s boho look and will show on the closing night. Other brands include Ed Hardy, Nicolita, A.Z. Araujo, Poko Pano, Mara Hoffman and many more.
