LFW: Antipodium, Markus Lupfer and House of Holland S/S 14
On day two of London Fashion Week, playful looks took over the runways. The S/S 14 looks were bold with excessive pairings of lace, plaids and floral prints. London runways are always unique to the fashion scene. Come see some of our favorite collections of the day.
Antipodium’s S/S 14 collection was a play on the modern schoolgirl. Organza, knife-pleated skirts felt softly against the body in iridescent shades of champagne and pink. Tweed, houndstooth-printed mini skirts and pastel sweaters fused together to create a flirty yet sophisticated style. Silhouettes were mostly boxy, falling straight down. The playful collection was dripping in hot pink, white, navy and trending pastel colors. As expected, London is showing a fun side of fashion.
Markus Lupfer’s S/S 14 collection was fresh and youthful. Adorable kitten faces and multicolored floral prints covered the runway. Lupfer used metallic panels of fabric to add a pop of flare to simple, jersey looks. Feminine white lace layered over skirts and dresses alike. Basic grey, white and blue denim set the foundation for the collection. Pops of color shone on prints in copper, blue, violet and baby pink. The Lupfer collection is for the everyday girl who craves comfort but radiates fun fashion.
House of Holland, known for their bold prints and statement tees, brought an ultra-feminine twist to their loud style. Large, tattoo inspired rose prints popped off simple, t-shirt dresses. More all-over floral prints covered tailored paint suits. For an extra kick of femininity, lace dresses with raw, scalloped edges graced the runway. To balance out the girly pieces, edgy metallic jackets and plaid prints brought a “borrowed from the boys” touch. Touch on the bold, beautiful and borrowed look next spring.
