Expect a new trend on the scene that entails the combination of lace and lines into new lingerie-inspired swimwear. Our warm weather apparel will soon have a makeover by borrowing techniques from one niche, under garments, and using them for the creation of bathing suits.

“Lingerie and corsetry have seen tremendous developments in creativity, but lately stagnation is in demand,” said Enrico Serafini, export director of Piave Maitex, known for its allover burnout fabrics and flocking. “On the other hand, swimwear has not been explored enough. This could be the beginning of a more fashion-forward direction for swimwear.”

Anticipate infused collections that interpret underwear features such as corsets, nude tones and paisley prints into this typical summer wear. Though with most new trends, the high-end creative brands often set the standard for many others to eventually follow.

Keep your eye on the following trendsetters: Eres, Jean Paul Gaultier, Fifi Chachnil, and Anna Maria La Bianca brands. Each of these labels has crafted a lingerie-flavored swimwear collection that’s definitely made to flaunt your style statement!

“I’ve also used a lot of nude, which is traditionally a lingerie color,” said Eres’ head designer, Valérie Delafosse. “I loved the idea of seeing nudes against the sand.”

The fabric will be swimwear durable with typical lingerie details. Definitely something that’ll draw more attention and bring style back to the triangle or halter-top shapes. This is a new movement for swimwear collections, which have been in great need of an update.
