Marc by Marc Jacobs to open pop-up Blondie shop
As fashion houses gear up for fashion week with creative ways to promote their brands, Marc Jacobs is contributing his own unique addition: a pop-up Blondie shop. This Tuesday, Marc by Marc Jacobs' women flagship on New York’s Bleecker Street will turn into a Blondie extravaganza in honor of the rock band’s latest album, “Panic of Girls,” reported WWD.
Shoppers at the store can peruse practically every kind of Blondie merchandise imaginable: albums, books, fan packs and T-shirts. Priced at $35, these tees benefit Riverkeeper, a watchdog organization that works to conserve the water supply of the Hudson River for the New York City and Hudson Valley areas.
As songwriter/lead singer Debbie Harry is a longstanding friend of Jacobs, as well as a frequent attendee of his shows, the designer has a personal connection to the music group.
“I’ve had a longtime association with Marc Jacobs since the early days at CBGB, and he’s always been so supportive of the downtown scene,” Harry, who will make a special appearance at the boutique, said to WWD. “I love and admire the fact that, while he’s so successful in the world of high fashion, he’s never forgotten his roots.”
