Memorial Day:  Reflect and Honor

LUX Nation, although we are quite excited for our 3-day weekend, we felt the need to stop and reflect on what this original ‘Decoration Day’ means to us as Americans and as humans.

As we look around at the freedom we hold here in the States there is so much to be thankful for, despite the hardships we currently face. We have the ability to walk outside without fear of war. We have the gift to speak our truth, to embrace our ethnic diversities, to have access to education, have families; go out to dinner and many LUXuries such as clean water indoors. Without the sacrifice of many American lives, our life and the way it looks would be quite different.

Next week will mark 140 years since we first established this day we now refer to as ‘Memorial Day’! The impetus for this ‘special’ day was originally to acknowledge all the lives that have been lost by Union Soldiers in the Civil War and after World War I, it become known as the recognition of any fallen solider.

As a way to educate and inspire, SnagFilms has produced a way to honor the true meaning of the day. The collection of video clips reviews everything from Pearl Harbor, Vietnam to highlighting everyday heroes that changed the landscape of the war at hand. It is truly a way to remember and pay respect to those who have sacrificed their OWN lives for OUR own.

SnagFilms is proud to present a special line-up of films this Memorial Day weekend that enable us all to honor the fallen, and to reflect on our own duties of remembrance and action. –Snagfilms.com

We here at LadyLUX want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank every soldier from past to present who has courageously fought on our behalf. Thank you for putting your life on the line in order to make America what it is today. Although, our hope is for peace, we also know that many of these battles had to be fought to create the heritage and perspectives we carry today.

We encourage you to reflect on your life and ask yourself what you’re grateful for this day. We would love to hear what it means to you, Share with us below.

Happy Memorial Day!
