Krystal Sasso was born and raised in Miami, so when she was asked to style the models, with her jewelry line, at the Beach Bunny runway show at Mercedes Benz FashionWeek SWIM in Miami, she was more than flattered. On Friday July 16 at the Raleigh Hotel, Sasso bumped elbows with models as she layered necklaces, popped on bangles and added her final touch to the runway looks. Sasso said, “Before the show, it was ‘calm before the storm’ but once the music hit and the Kardashians arrived, the frenzy started and the press was running everywhere.”

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, who have quickly become Miami fixtures, are contributing to Beach Bunny’s swim collection for Spring/Summer 2011. Khloe and Kourtney contributed three looks each to the collection, which is a mix of one-pieces and bikinis, and their sister Kim contributed two.

Sometimes backstage can be insane but Krystal Sasso kept her cool. Although it all happened in the blink of an eye, she loved every moment of it. “Everything went so smooth and the show was a totally amazing success,” said Sasso.

Due to the press received with the Kardashian appearance, the show made the front page of newspapers, such the Miami Herald. However, Sasso isn’t foreign to the press herself, the Florida native has regularly graced the pages of Ocean Drive, the Miami-based Niche Media publication. Sasso, whose name actually translates to “stone” in Italian (talk about fate) has received tons of positive feedback to her eclectic aesthetic, inspired by her travels around the globe. Sasso said, “Since I was a little girl, I’ve always traveled. I was lucky because my parents took me all over the world.” She went on to say, “Just seeing different cultures and being inspired by different people… in Egypt, there are the pyramids, or in Greece there is the ocean… I’m just inspired wherever I go.”

Glam Rock is her most recent collection, featuring mixed metals and monochromatic colors, but Sasso was able to pair her past collections with the swim show as well. Beach Bunny was the perfect brand to show off her styles, she said, because their three looks (Safari, Hollywood Glam, and Sailor Chic) directly parallel her own collections. How about that? In regards to styling, Sasso said, “For Safari we used my chunky turquoise and bamboo bracelets, for Hollywood Glam we used gun metal chains and elastic cuffs with rhinestone pins, and for Sailor Chic we used earrings, blue cuffs with gold accents, and bracelets.”

Just like the swim show, which previewed styles for Spring and Summer 2011, Sasso is also getting ready for next year. “It’s going to be a continuation of my best sellers from last spring. I’m working with neutrals, such as browns and deep-red corals.”
