Moschino Cheap and Chic?
We are not sure, but there is good reason to believe that Rosella Jardin was channeling the 80’s Mickey Mouse Club when designing the Moschino Cheap and Chic fall/winter ‘09 collection shown in Milan. The porcelain faced models with blood red lipstick strutted down the runway in ruffles, ruffles and more ruffles and with mickey mouse ears adorning their heads. A ruffled peg-leg romper with an oversized ruffled bib, a black pencil skirt overrun by cascading pink rufffles, a nipple showing sheer black top with, can you guess, ruffles climbing up the arm and falling out the sleeve of the other. Don’t even get me started on the “Brown paper packages tied up with string” burlap wrapped Christmas present disguised as a shift dress. The show defined indecision and split-personality by playing up extremes of the yin and yang. Even the shoes were half sandal half boot! Can’t decide if you are feeling feminine or masculine?
