Radar: GILT Launches Home Section

Gilt gained famed with fashionistas everywhere when they launched their shopping site in 2007. With their subscription, members have the chance to access designer duds for up to 70 percent off. The site includes weekly sales, some only lasting up to 36 hours, that give these special “insiders” the opportunity to load up on their favorite designers for much less. Today, Gilt had an important announcement to make. The luxury fashion site has launched a Home division. Now, not only will shoppers have a highly curated fashion experience but they can also deck out their pad with lamps, drapes, furniture, lighting… You name it, Gilt has it. The Gilt blog will also accommodate the new category by featuring interviews and editorials on home related topics.

Jonathan Adler had something to say about the expansion, “I believe great style is universal: from your clothes to your curtains, personal style is expressed through all outlets, so it only makes sense that Gilt would further its presence in the Home category.”

Gilt Home will be featuring some heavy hitters in the home industry such as Andrew Martin, MIssoni Home, John Robshaw and Kyocera to name a few. If Gilt is known for furnishing your wardrobe, now they have your abode covered as well. Stefan Pepe, general manager of Gilt Home said, “Our member is a sophisticated individual who looks for luxury in every aspect of his or her life, including their home.”

Sound exclusive? That’s because it is. Gilt still functions on an invitation only basis. Based in NYC and serving over two million members, it’s easy to say that Gilt is rapidly expanding as the “it” name in fashion e-commerce. They plan to have 15 sales a week that feature over 200 brand names. For Gilt home, they’ll have a huge variety of merchandise from indoor/outdoor furniture and decor to gourmet food and home electronics. Shoppers will definitely have sticky fingers with so much candy to chose from. Feeling guilty? At 70 percent off, it’s good to know that Gilt is serving up a deal that even the most hardened budget shopper could not refuse.

Sales start at Noon ET on May 13. To become a Gilt Home member, check out their web site at Gilt.com/GiltHome.
