NYFW Spring 2012: Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring 2012 collection added a touch of modern-day femininity to New York Fashion Week with her signature designs featuring bright colors, playful prints and tons of edge, reported Style.com.

The show started with a bang as the first model strutted down the runway in a neon-orange blazer and gray-printed shorts. Minkoff’s pieces continued to boast Spring neon colors but in subtle ways. Neon orange, pink, yellow and green appeared throughout the collection as accents on sweaters or as solid colors on tops, shorts and dresses.

Playful prints with spots, florals, snakeskin and paisley played a major role in the collection. Wildly printed shirts, jackets and skirts were paired with monochromatic tops and bottoms for more demure styles, while slip dresses and floor-length gowns presented pastel floral prints for a sweet and feminine look.

Instead of bright neon colors and wild prints, Minkoff kept a part of her collection simple with tailored, menswear-inspired pieces. Collared shirts, blazers, denim slacks and suit separates gave off a clean impression with an edgy vibe.

Although Minkoff’s collection exhibited a great deal of menswear-inspired styles, it was kept feminine with sheer and airy fabrics mixed with jackets, shiny black minidresses, brown pencil skirts and large-handled handbags all made of soft leather.

Models’ voluminous hair was crimped into waves, and their make-up was kept matte and natural but still ready for Spring with pink flushed cheeks and bright coral lips.

All models held simple leather clutches and handbags, and wore dark sunglasses and adorned, chunky, high-heeled sandals with multiple straps, laces and buckles.

Minkoff’s collection is what every woman needs to add a spring to her step when transitioning from her dark winter wardrobe into flowing and flowery pieces.
