Oceana to celebrate 5th annual SeaChange Summer Party in Laguna Beach

On July 29, Oceana will host the fifth annual SeaChange Summer Party to raise awareness for ocean conservation. The special event and auction allows donors an opportunity to help bring back the sea’s bounty for the current generation and for the future. In the past five years, SeaChange has raised almost $5 million for ocean conservation, with last year’s 2011 event raising over $900,000 with 400 guests.

This year’s grand star-studded soiree will take place at a magnificent private villa in Laguna Beach, Calif. that boasts endless views of the Pacific Ocean and impressive gardens. Guests will enjoy a cocktail reception followed by an exquisite gourmet dinner in the magical summer evening. Morgan Freeman with musical performance by Jeff Goldblum and Mildred Snitzer will be in attendance as the special guests. Confirmed attendees include Ted Danson, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Alexandra Cousteau and Kate Walsh. Also highlighted for their support will be Ocean Champions, Michael and Tricia Berns, South Coast Plaza and Ocean Hero Junior finalist Sam Harris. The seven year old will be applauded for his to work in saving sharks.

The 2012 Auction is a vital component of SeaChange and will offer astounding items for any and every interest. With over 60 auctions to choose from, the selection ranges from a sleek eco-chic Fisker Karma luxury sedan to a one-week private charter to the Caribbean on the world’s largest Catamaran “The Hemisphere” to delightful shopping sprees.

The donations and auction proceeds will be put towards implementing an effective and realistic worldwide campaign based on science to heal the oceans that are suffering from overfishing, acidification and habitat destruction. Oceana pushes to help save sea turtles and corals, protect dolphins and whales from underwater seismic testing, and fights fish fraud along with illegal fishing. Since 2001, the organization has protected over 1.2 million miles of oceans and sea creatures. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Orange County ocean conservation organizations as well.
