Open Now: Marie Robinson Salon in NYC

When it comes to coloring your hair, Marie Robinson is the woman to know in New York City. Just ask some of her clients, such as Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Rachel McAdams and Liv Tyler… or just head into theatres to see her work on “Sex & The City 2”. Her A-list crowd has been coming to her for years because of her amazing ability to create flawlessly colored coifs. Her styles have graced the pages of Vogue and Elle, but Robinson’s reputation wasn’t handed to her. She strutted her way to the top by working at beauty bigwigs such as Pierre Michel, John Frieda, and Bumble & Bumble.

After almost 20 years in the industry, Robinson felt it was finally time to spread her wings and to start her own solo venture. Robinson told LadyLUX, “I realized after 16 years in the business, I knew what worked well and what didn’t for clients. I wanted to figure out a way to make the experience even better.”

It also helped to have good people on her side. “I also have an unbelievable support group consisting of friends, peers, family, clients and last but not least my business partner Abell, who made it all possible and a smooth transition.”

Robinson enlisted her dear friend Abell Oujaddou, whom she met while working, to fulfill her dream. Oujaddou is no stranger to dying strands himself. The hair maven has worked at Bruno Pittini and John Frieda salons, establishing himself as a name to know in the industry. While styling a mutual client, Oujaddou and Robinson realized they had a parallel passion for the industry and discovered that they could funnel this drive into a business partnership.

On April 5, Robinson’s dream became a reality. Situated in Manhattan’s creative mecca, the flatiron district, Robinson and Oujaddou opened The Marie Robinson salon.

A beautifully styled and modern 5,000 square ft. space, the salon exudes Robinson’s aesthetic that has earned her so much success.

What is Robinson looking forward to with her new spiffy salon?
“Nurturing and helping my colleagues to reach their full potential the same way I was, as well as setting trends and becoming an inspiring example for future entrepreneurs in our business,” Robinson said.

The Marie Robinson salon is located on Fifth Avenue between 21st and 22nd.
