Pantone announces Fall 2011 colors
Pantone released its Fashion Color Report for Fall 2011 this week, unveiling brights (Bamboo, Emberglow and Honeysuckle), dark jewel tones (Deep Teal and Phlox) and muted neutrals (Nougat, Orchid Hush and Quarry).
Pantone is known as the expert on color and the go-to book for practically every designer across the globe. The list comes at the perfect time, since Fashion Week is about to hit the streets of New York City.
“Much like a painter’s masterpiece, there is a certain romance to this season’s palette,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a statement.
A few hues on the list—Bamboo, Emberglow and Honeysuckle – weren’t a surprise. Honeysuckle is said (by Pantone) to be the color of 2011, and Bamboo (a mustard yellow) has been seen all over the runways, channeling a ‘70s palette.
This coming fall is all about alternatives. Coffee Liqueur, a chocolate brown, is a softer choice than black and is easy to pair with other fall hues, such as deep greens, purples and lighter neutrals.
