Shopping all night and day. Sounds horrible, doesn’t it? I know nary a New York woman—correction: nary a woman at all—who would turn her nose up at that. This Thursday, ladies from the Five Boroughs and beyond will get a chance to shop around the clock when they gather to celebrate the launch of Zac Posen’s Collection for Target.

Yes, the talented young designer will join the other talents who have contributed limited collections to the mass-market style Mecca. The private event will kick off a public 24-hour event wherein New Yorkers will be able to hit the racks before everyone else does, on April 25th, when the collection hits Target stores.

Rumor has it that some of the world’s most well-known women will be there to soak up the goods too—meaning stars like Maggie Gyllenhaal, Selma Blair, Mena Suvari, Parker Posey, Alek Wek, and Claire Danes. All will be present to get their Zac on, and more are scheduled to attend. The evening event, taking place in a pop-up shop that Posen has set up next to New York’s famed New Yorker Hotel is billed as high-glam-meets-low-prices, but is sure to be a party all night-literally: The private VIP event starts at 8:00 pm and ends at 11:00 p.m., when the public is allowed in to keep the retail rush going, through the wee hours of the morning and way past the sun coming up, until 11 p.m. the next day.

With prices remaining under $200, Posen’s pieces for Target will include day and night looks, in his usual colorful palette, as well as a gown that is Target’s first full-length carry.

And there will be more to entertain shoppers than just the delightful patterns that meet the eye: musical groups The Like, The Other Will, and Luisiul, as well as DJ America will provide soothing sartorial accompaniment, and a film by Gia Coppola (niece of Sofia, granddaughter of Francis Ford) will be screened. This is more than a night on the town, it’s one for the fashion record books. Whether you’re famous or almost, step out on the red carpet and smile pretty for the paparazzi.
