What You Missed During Project Ethos LA Fashion Week

Earlier this week, Project Ethos and Scion partnered together to start LA Fashion Week off on the right foot. Bringing 12 designers, artists and music and performances, Project Ethos was without a doubt the LA Fashion Week apex of fashion and art.

Held at Avalon in Hollywood, the night started with a cocktail reception where local artists showcased their works. Two stand out art exhibits included Hollywood Graffiti by Greg Auerbach whose series consist of famous film icons spray painted over a collage of news clippings that relate to the specific person’s career and life. The second stand out artist was Gregg Visintainer, who creates hand drawn pen and ink art. From afar his work looks as if it is one main image, but up close hidden pictures, words and messages are reveled. As the night went underway, the audience was ushered into the main stage area for the main attraction of the night: the fashion.

Starting the night was designer, T. Rains with a collection starring America’s Next Top Model winner Caridee English. English wasn’t the only famous face to rock the runway throughout the night, Lily Galichi from Bravo’s Shahs of Sunset graced the catwalk wearing the evening wear designs of Michael Costello, Kiara Belen from America’s Next Top Model wore multiple designers and Rick, “Zombie Boy” and the former face of Mugler, sported several looks from Tumbler and Tipsy.

As the fashion shows unfolded, it seemed that designers collectively agreed that fall and winter 2013, LA is going to bear more body — no surprise for sunny Southern California. If any city in the world can get away with showing some skin in the winter, it’s the City of Angels. Sheer pieces, low-cut dresses, extra mini-skirts and flirty cocktail dresses filled the runways.

Stand out designers for the night included Michael Costello, Hale Bob by Daniel Bohbot, Andrew Christian, Maor Luz, the Raz Collection by Siann Marlowe, Farahourani, Nine in the Morning, Haus of Pink Lemonade and Pas Pour Tois.

The runway shows ran in three sets of four with intermission allowing for show goers to watch live performances including alternative pop band, Fire in the Hamptons, and dance pieces choreographed by Tricia Miranda; watch art installations; and discover more about local artists. After the fashion shows finished show goers enjoyed the set by DJ Aaron Colbert.
