Radar: Cynthia Rowley washes up on Montauk

That unassuming storefront isn’t selling you crabs legs or frozen bananas. The tiny, 800 -square-foot space is actually a Cynthia Rowley boutique. She’ll not only show off her collaborations with Roxy and surfboard shaper Meyerhoffer, but also plenty of handpicked ready-to-wear items such as sunglasses, handbags, and shoes.

Now that the famed designer is lending her hand to surf apparel and custom boards, it’s not a huge surprise that she made the drive from Manhattan to Montauk.

She told WWD, “I just wanted a tiny, little shop that would be more relaxed than the rest of the Hamptons.”

Right next door to the Memory Hotel, she’s no quiet neighbor. She has hopes of partnering up with the hotel next door and starting a summer concert series… perhaps with appearances from DJs Leo Fitzpatrick and Agyness Deyn.

As onlookers can tell, this isn’t any Cynthia Rowley boutique. Visitors to the seaside city will have a treat, seeing some never-before-seen items, such as scents found on a trip to Morocco.

Back in the city, Rowley plans to have a string of pop-up shops at her East End store featuring designers such as Sophomore, FEED Projects, Bonobos men and Arden Wohl’s bakery.

Stay tuned to her summer plans by checking out her web site at CynthiaRowley.com.
