LUX-Fashionistas, this month an inspiring new jewelry line makes its splash onto the fashion scene.

The brand is called Rocknrola, and it’s the creation of both Susan Cohn Rockefeller (filmmaker and activist) and Carola Mack. Together, they combined the fashion-forward concepts of their own artistic genius with something that also inspired ECO-consciousness!

“On a whim, I took a classic strand of uptown pearls and transformed them into downtown cred by adding a sterling silver message tag that expressed my worries about our environment, our sometimes lackadaisical attitude toward helping one another, and the general weight of the times we’re in. I added another charm and then another, and another. A charm necklace!” says Susan, Co-founder of RocknRola. “I test-marketed a few on friends and family. They were stopped so many times they asked me if they could carry business cards. Apparently, other folks were being weighed down as well. This led to new tags. Some playful, some inspirational, some hopeful, all meant to motivate and awaken.”

Rocknrola is officially releasing two of the six collections this month. One is called Rocknrola and the other is Oceana. The Rocknrola line has key messages like ‘carpe diem’ and ‘nameste’, while the Oceana line reflects the essence of the water with more fish, mermaids as well as empowering ‘SOS’ messages to help take action.

Yes, you might have guessed that the Oceana line is made in honor of our oceans and part of the proceeds will go to support the Oceana Foundation! Susan Cohn Rockefeller actually sits on the Oceana council and was inspired to find a way to ethically support the cause and also help bring awareness to the conditions of our oceans! What a great way to combine fashion-forward concepts with ‘embedded’ messages to help the planet!
