Salvatore Ferragamo opens a trunk – show, that is

Salvatore Ferragamo will release its first online trunk show this Friday, Aug. 5, initiating the luxury label’s foray into ready-to-wear e-commerce. Featuring clothes, shoes and handbags, the show will present the women’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection, with head-to-toe looks straight from the runway and designed by creative director Massimiliano Giornetti. Get it while it’s hot: Pre-ordering is available for only three weeks.

And what trunk show would be complete without integrating social media? A first for the high-end digital sector, the Ferragamo show will allow shoppers to craft their own ensembles by combining pieces from the different runway looks with an easy-to-use styling tool. These newly produced styles can then be shared on Facebook and Twitter.

A client and friend of Ferragamo's, Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann—the granddaughter of Hollywood starlet Ingrid Bergman—spices up the site by sporting the Fall/Winter runway looks.

“I absolutely loved being a part of the Fall 2011 Ferragamo look book, not only because the clothes are gorgeous, but also because I have been an avid admirer of Ferragamo for so many years,” Wiedemann said in a statement. “The materials are luxurious and the designs are fun and feminine with a hint of strong men's tailoring. I found the collection to be glamorous and sexy but still chic and sophisticated!”

The trunk show coincides with the debut of the Fall/Winter 2011 ad campaign, in which fashion photographer Mikael Jansson captured Daria Werbowy and Mathias Lauridsen modeling the latest collection while lounging at the stunning Villa d'Este in Lake Como, Italy.

To check out the trunk show, visit trunkshow.ferragamo.com. Quantities are limited and items can only be purchased by U.S. residents.
