From SJP to D&G: Spring’s Designer Collaborations

From Sarah Jessica Parker going corporate at Halston to Madonna taking her love of eyewear to a whole new level, it seems celebs are ready to split from the screen and enjoy the spotlight in a different arena. These four famous faces are taking the fashion world by storm, from the boardroom to the design room, and we’re ready to see what they’ll have in store for us this Spring.

Madonna for Dolce & Gabbana
The pop star and face of the 2010 D&G Spring/Summer ad campaign can now add eyewear designer to her D&G resume. The ads were published in Italian Vogue last winter and showed Madonna being domestic as ever. She cleaned up the kitchen, wore a bob, and even rocked a cross around her neck (without being ironic). MDG, the name of her new line, is a more glam look for the media mogul, featuring a diamond-studded M beside the iconic letters.

Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry
No one would imagine that the sultry singer, better known for arrests and addictions, would make her step into the limelight with a preppy new line for Fred Perry. When it comes to fashion, Winehouse is usually seen in torn shorts and her signature coif. Her sketches, which are mostly monochromatic and vintage-inspired, reveal that the musician may have changed her tune from messy to mature. Perhaps the new rocker chic is pencil skirts and polo shirts! Who knew?

Sarah Jessica Parker for Halston
This winter, Halston confirmed to WWD that SJP was joining the team as Chief Creative Officer. Not your typical celeb collaboration, not only will she shape design but the “Sex and the City” star will get a say in the brand’s future deals. Parker told WWD, “I think this is a brand new kind of business model and it illustrates how serious I am about this position.” We last saw the famed fashionista working the crowds at the Halston presentation at Fall 2010 Fashion Week. Topped in a silky, metallic blouse made by her new employer, Parker was all smiles as she represented her beloved brand.

Olivia Palermo for Roberta Freymann
If you’ve ever watched “The City” then you know that the self-proclaimed “social” (that’s right, it’s short for socialite) has the right rolodex to get what she wants. Even though she repeatedly failed as an assistant at ELLE, her friend and boss gave her chance after chance. Jewelry designer Roberta Freymann is giving the lucky star another opportunity as they partner up for a new jewelry collection that will be available at her boutiques this Spring. Perhaps, the accessory-loving celeb is better posed to produce than style photoshoots? We’ll see.
