Three-second movie contest challenges water activists

This World Water Day, celebrate by making a difference in a fun way. The Surfrider Foundation, Teva and GoPro have come together to challenge activists to a three-second movie competition.

Up until March 13, supporters can create a water-themed video and submit it to the foundation to win one of three prize packages featuring goods from Teva and a GoPro camera.

“A lot can happen in three seconds that affects the quality of the water waters we play in, and that is scary,” Alexis Henry, Surfrider Foundation communications manager, said to LadyLUX. “We hope that with the Three-Second Movie Contest, filmmakers of all skill levels will show people the beauty and essence of water, and inspire people to take action - no matter how small - to improve the quality of our water.”

Founded by environmental surfers in 1984, Surfrider Foundation is a grassroots nonprofit committed to protecting our world’s oceans, waves and beaches.

The United Nations declared World Water Day in 1993 as an international celebration to spread the word about the importance of caring for our planet’s water resources. The Surfrider Foundation’s activities are designed to inform and create awareness for several clean water initiatives.

The winners will be released on World Water Day, March 22. For additional information on the Surfrider Foundation’s World Water Day activities, visit www.surfrider.org.
