LUX Look: Old School Sunglass Glamour

It’s all about flashbacks this season when it comes to eye wear and we’re not talking Ray Ban wayfarers. These looks could have easily graced the faces of Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe. Cat eyes, printed frames and over sized shades were a mark of independent women of the 50s, 60s and 70s, and now maidens of the millennium can rock the shades that their grandmas made famous.

Tom Ford’s “Astrid” style is minimalist yet makes a statement with the retro-shape and tortoise shell frame. Imported from Italy, channel old Hollywood glamor when you take a spin in these sunglasses. John Galliano’s glasses have a more vintage vibe with two-tone in tortoise and enamel. The tinted frames will make any lady look a little more mysterious. The big cat eyes called “Nico”, also by Tom Ford, are statement makers with bold black frames and gradient lenses. However, the printed frame round glasses by Emilio Pucci have to be my favorite. Digging through my grandmother’s things, I always wished her prescription glasses were meant for me. There’s something about the mix of whimsical print, big round frames with metal hardware, that makes wearing glasses a little more fun.
