Zac Posen flats for sale in Ladies Mile

The building, 16 West 21st Street, got manhattanites mumbling in the historic district when the all-glass façade first went up last spring. A baby of architect Morris Adjami, formerly of Aldo Rossi, is known for his sleek, modern-faced buildings and minimalist design. It surprised a few when he teamed up with Zac Posen, a designer known for bold color and a break-the-rules attitude, for the boutique residential building in the Ladies Mile district of New York City. For the past year, city dwellers have had a sneak peek of the construction, watching the glass bricks pile up. As of this month the apartments, interiors completely designed by the American fashion designer, will be open for potential buyers. Everything from the kitchen cabinets to wall treatments were chosen by Posen and the illustrations (available on the web site) offer an interesting perspective on urban living. Dolls posing in domestic settings – dinner parties, intimate moments in the bedroom, kitchen chatter – show off what it would be like to live in 16w21.

During an interview with The Real Deal, Posen revealed that the project was very much based on opportunity – the right place at the right time. He told Candance Taylor that it was an easy leap to mix his whimsical aesthetic with clean 21st century design. This would make even more sense if Posen debuted his furniture collection, which has been rumored for a while now. But reps say the set will be put on hold.

Photographer Will Femia got a look inside the new fully furnished model, which will carry a tag of approximately for $4 million. The avant-garde apartment will definitely garner attention and lots of “ooo” and “ahh”. The kitchen and bathrooms offer modern, clean spaces with a touch of color. However, drama is the word to use when explaining the boudoir. The color palette goes out the window when it comes to the bedrooms, which feature loud animal prints, flamboyant color choices and heavy drapery. Posen only furnished the model, which is also covered in his personal art collection of (…ahem) nudes. When Taylor asked Posen if he’d consider decorating buyer’s interiors, he said, “Not unless they’re really wealthy. I have expensive taste.”

Interested in 16w21? Well, you may have to wait. The waiting list, just to step in the door, has over 500 people. Imagine what it will be like when bidding starts! Ranging from $1.8 to 6 million for the two-bedroom to triplex penthouse, people from all over the city are going to be giving this design fixture a twirl. Stay tuned to their web site at 16w21.com for more info.
