Beauty brands Crème de la Mer and Jo Malone are getting involved with Mother Nature to support ocean conservation and garden restoration, respectively.

At Sotheby’s in London, Crème de la Mer hosted a reception to celebrate its new partnership with the Blue Marine Foundation to support ocean conservation efforts in the United Kingdom. The foundation was founded in 2010 by the producers of the documentary “The End of the Line,” about the environmental dangers of overfishing. Over the next decade, the Blue Marine Foundation aims to increase the area of ocean protected by marine reserves from 1 percent to 10 percent.

Giving back to the planet one garden at a time, British fragrance Jo Malone has unveiled an ongoing project to create gardens in major cities around the world, in partnership with a series of charities that restore gardens in urban spaces. For the first project in London, Jo Malone is teaming up with Thrive, a U.K. charity that offers gardening as therapy for disabled and mentally ill people. The fragrance brand is funding the regeneration of Thrive’s largest project of the Old English Garden in Battersea Park. Thrive’s team of trainee gardeners will be tending the garden for up to two years, with the goal of gaining vocational training in horticulture.

“The British garden has always provided inspiration for Jo Malone fragrances and so we are delighted to be supporting charities that use gardens to bring beauty to urban space,” said Maureen Case, president, specialty brands, as reported by WWD.com.
