Blogger Spotlight: Could Be Interesting

Today's blogger of the week is the lovely Emily from Could Be Interesting! Mother to an adorable son and soon-to-be bride, Emily takes time out of her busy schedule to offer readers a taste of fashion, food, decor, beauty and so much more!

* * *

LadyLUX: Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Emily: Hmm… I feel like this is a ready set go question, so….

Emily, twenty five, mother, almost wife, big sister, lucky daughter. That would be the base of it. Born and raised in South Laguna Beach. Studied history in college. Really love being a mom. Adore anything by Train. Dreaming of white, blush, & soft peach. Barefoot as often as possible.

LL: How did you get into blogging and why?

E: I started blogging a couple years ago as a creative outlet from work and life. In the evenings after my son was asleep or in the morning before breakfast I would take some time for myself. I never planned for the blog to come this far. But it has become a way for me to collect my ideas & admire all the lovely things I can find. I've really just kind of gone with it.

LL: What drives your commitment to excellence in your life?

E: I have goals & dreams. I want to live a full life and enjoy as much of it as I can. I want to look back 20 years from now & know that in my twenties I was being true to myself. I explored options that I was possibly afraid to, but did what I knew was right for me.

LL: What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?

E: Well, this is probably a silly answer, but I feel like I am never not working on the blog. I am always thinking of fun things I want to share & talk about. It's distracting, but in a good way. Otherwise, I would say I am a self proclaimed life juggler. I am a full time mom. My four year old always keeps me on my toes. A bundle of fun and giggles, he is. Then there is work…. social media, real estate, web design, marketing, & advertising . I also do LOTS of laundry, cook at least 5 nights a week, chat & cuddle with my wonderful fiancé, Matt & try to squeeze in time with friends & family.

LL: What would you like to accomplish or create in 2012?

E: Where to start…There is SO much I have on my “Make This Dream Reality” list. First and foremost I want to plan a rockin' wedding & begin the rest of my life as Matt's wife. I want to take the next step in creating a business with my sister. This is something we have been talking about for a while now & I want this to be the year we do it. Begin working on a project with a new acquaintance that I think will really take off if we can put it together. I want to read more books. It would be great to read a total of 50, but that might be a pretty mighty goal. I am working on bringing the best content to my blog and more projects done in house. Get around to photographing things I have made and create more lovely items to share with all of you. Get the blog to an interface that really works for both myself & my readers. And lastly, get my son ready for Kindergarten. This will be a big transition so I want to make sure he is as ready as he can be. Ooooh & start working towards baby number two, hopefully.

LL: Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?

E: Wow. I think there are too many to even name. My tops… Sarah Yates, Oh Joy!, 100 Layer Cake, Once Wed, Snippet & Ink, My lovely friend Amanda at IgoYOUgoblog. Those are just the first to come to mind.

LL: What is your favorite part about creating content for “Could Be Interesting”?

E: I seriously dig the stuff I put on my blog. I share it because I like it & I want others to know about it. I am completely thrilled with the homemade, design, craft, blog movement going on. All of these people connecting their lives to share a common or similar passion. The idea that there are all of these interesting and creative people sharing their handmade items & awesome ideas all over the internet blows me away. I am constantly humbled, impressed, & inspired. It is incredible & beautiful. It is all part of the Small Business movement which is something I want to be involved in. Stepping away from larger corporations and giving the little guys my support.

LL: How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog?

E: Books, magazines, social media, other blogs, pinterest, life, research…. I find things daily that inspire me to continue blogging. Something I am really working on is organizing all of my ideas and sharing them in an efficient, but me way.

LL: Share something your readers might not know about you

E: Hmm.. This is a tough one. I would say something people might not know is… I'm rather nerdy. More than people might expect, maybe. I speed read. I took a class in college and now I can read an 800 page book in two days. I really enjoy sci-fi | fantasy books and videos games. I am currently reading Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series, I think I am on book 5 of 11. I am waiting for Gail Z Martin's next book of The Fallen Kings Cycle to come out, & I am totally and completely obsessed with Skyrim (an RPG for the Playstation 3). I think that might be the biggest thing I can think of. . .
