Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Design Serpent Themed Jewelry To Benefit Children In Conflict

It seems 2009 has the year for celebrity couples to endorse and create their own accessories lines. The latest couple to join the ranks of celebrity designers are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are breaking into high-end jewelry design with a serpent-themed line produced by luxury jewelry maker Asprey (Asprey was recently purchased by Hermes).

The limited edition collection, conceived and designed by Pitt and Jolie, will go on sale at Asprey stores in London, New York, Beverly Hills, Tokyo and Dubai later this week.

All net proceeds from sales will go to Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which was cofounded by Jolie in 2006. The charity raises awareness and funds to educate child victims of war, conflict and natural disasters.

“These are the children who most need a safe place to learn, a place to heal, a place to learn reconciliation, a place to build a better future and a place — to just be children. Yet the education for these children is often forgotten. Tens of millions of children and adolescents in conflict are not in school.” Angelina Jolie told WWD.

Our favorite: The serpent baby spoon ($525), it’s elegant, powerful and graceful.

I’m really glad that celebrity couples or celebrities are using their creative talent to craft high-end jewelry design to help raise money.  We have continued to place a high dollar value on movie stars/celebrities and have seen how they shape culture beyond our belief, now it is time to say please HELP…If this is the new moment to raising money for awareness groups to stay afloat.  I think it’s great because you get a piece of high-end jewelry and you’re helping out an organization of your choice!
