Google Challenges Microsoft with a New PC Operating System
Attention all LUX-PC users, it looks like you will soon have some new saucy technology being offered your way by our favorite giant search engine, Google!!
This system is open-source and available to anyone. Thus offering a direct threat to Microsoft’s Window platform!! Especially with this economic landscape, the free access just might be exactly what PC-faithfuls having been asking for!!
The Chrome Operating System transforms the web into the default operating system and not the computer!! This new system was created specifically to support Google’s new ‘Chrome Browser’ just recently launched 9-months ago and already has 30 million daily users!
“People want to get to their email instantly, without wasting time waiting for their computers to boot and browsers to start up. They want their computers to always run as fast as when they first bought them. [...] Even more importantly, they don’t want to spend hours configuring their computers to work with every new piece of hardware, or have to worry about constant software updates.” –via Google Blog Announcement
This new announcement demonstrate Google’s support for ‘cloud’ computing, which means that storage, data and information processing happens through the net. Making computers a useful tool to access the web and putting the emphasis on the network capabilities and not the machine itself. Google aims at ‘updating computer’ systems to be more effective and efficient to meet the standards of the future!! ![]()
“They want their data to be accessible to them wherever they are and not have to worry about losing their computer or forgetting to back up files.” —via Google Blog Announcement
