Just Announced: ‘Fashion’s Night Out’ Returns in 2010
LUX-fashionistas, due to the success of this year’s Fashion’s Night Out event, it’s just been announced there will be an encore affair set for next fall. Expect even more opportunities to rub shoulders with the fashion elite at a worthwhile event!
In collaboration with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Vogue Magazine, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and NYC & Co. next year’s event is set for September 9, 2010. Mark your calendars LUXies!
“The numbers are in, and it’s clear that Fashion’s Night Out was a tremendous success,” Bloomberg said. “Thousands of New Yorkers attended the events in all five boroughs, supporting the city’s retail and fashion industries, and helping a worthwhile cause. It’s sure to be an even bigger event in 2010.”
More than 700 retailers in NYC contributed to the fashion extravaganza by keeping doors open until 11 pm. Definitely an excellent opportunity to combine our love of fashion and entertainment in a one-night affair. LUXies, this might just be a tradition in the making if the 2010 event is a continued hit!
“I thought Fashion’s Night Out was a terrific event,” said Stephen I. Sadove, chairman and chief executive officer of Saks Fifth Avenue. “It generated traffic and excitement around fashion. It was very focused. It was never designed to generate huge sales, but I do believe incremental sales were generated by the event.”
This collaboration between retailers and designers was key in the overall acceptance from everyone that attended. It’s this sense of community that really got everyone to rally and make an appearance. According to an independent party, ShopperTrak, over 75% of shoppers who attended the event bought something. Which helped boost the local economy and help the industry gain some traction before the holiday season.
There’s talk that this next event might even be ‘tax-free’ for retail sales, which would be a huge incentive for even more to attend the festivities.
