LUX Style: Fur outerwear and accessories

Here at LadyLUX, we cannot lie: We love fur. Not only is it perfect for cozying up and staying warm, but with the addition of a fur jacket or accessory, any outfit can become instantly glamorous. This season, fur has appeared in nearly category and every form, from footwear to outerwear, combined with leather and sweaters, and available in a variety of colors. Those looking for affordable choices can choose faux options or small touches.

Fur coats and jackets are the must-have outerwear pieces of the season. Leopard print is always a favorite and never goes out of style.

Consider Dallin Chase’s big cat jacket. Slightly oversized with black fur that contrasts against the leopard, the coat looks effortless with jeans and a white tank or smashing with a LBD.

Halston Heritage’s gray faux fur jacket with slouchy sleeves and shawl collar is an easy-to-wear piece with jewel tones such as red, purple, blue and emerald.

For the ultimate chic monochrome look, try Rebecca Taylor’s cream faux fur bomber styled with a white top and leather pants. Cream paired with white fur is extremely versatile and works day or night.

And as if fur wasn’t already fun enough, By Malene Birger’s knee-length fur coat features leather sleeves and trim. The soft brown fur juxtaposed with the black leather makes for a sharp look. Balance the statement coat with simple sweaters and skinny pants.

Vests are another great option to exhibit the fur look. BB Dakota’s light-brown, waist-length vest looks classic against neutral tans or luxe with vivid colors. Pair the piece with trendy red pants and a button-up for casual chicness.

On the wild side, 3.1 Phillip Lim’s cropped wool cardigan features fur sleeves. The styling may be progressive, but don’t shy away from wearing it around town. Pair the cropped silhouette with a high-waisted skirt or skinny pants, and layer with a tee for a conservative look.

To easily work fur into your everyday wardrobe, try accessories and handbags. I Love Binetti’s faux fur shoulder bag complete with chain straps and tassels is manageable for daytime at the office or works at evening dinners. The neutral brown tones easily match with black or practically any color.

The infinity scarf has become an easy favorite, and Adrienne Landau has created it in fur. In chocolate, black or ivory, the loop scarf can be worn long or double wrapped around the neck.

For the truly chilly days, a trapper hat is a cute way to stay toasty. Bop’s Basics’ trapper is best styled with a cape coat or shawl – think Russian glam.

Earmuffs are always essential, and Juicy Couture’s include an extra bonus: They double up as headphones for your favorite tunes. Cold walks will never be the same again.

And possibly the most wanted winter shoe – and we’re not talking about boots – is Alexander Wang’s Simona patent-leather sandals featuring a massive fur pouf on the vamp. These fancy feet can do all the talking and walking themselves, so keep outfits minimal with fitted, cropped pants to let them pop.
