New Spring Handbag Collection Designed by the Gucci Great-Grandsons

The great-grandsons of Guccio Gucci, founder of the LUX brand Gucci, have just announced they’ll be designing their own set of handbags.

This collection will not bare any label of the original Gucci name. Both Guccio and Alessandro Gucci have decided to branch out and design their own collection named ‘To Be G’.

“We are not doing this because our name is Gucci, nor do we want to try and replicate what the Gucci brand is doing,” said Guccio Gucci during a tour of his Scandicci, Tuscany, manufacturing plant. “We have our own vision.”

Out of the pair, Guccio will be the designer genius, while Alessandro will be handling the marketing aspects of the business. Guccio did have the opportunity to work for Gucci until it was sold in 1989, where he then went and worked with this father at GiorgioG handbags. As you can see, the experience and leverage of their historic roots could just be a masterpiece in the making!

These new designs, showcased above, use exquisitely interwoven patterning and leather motifs that help set these bags apart from the competition. Expect timeless and high-end quality, what else could you expect from a Gucci?

Expect retail pricing to be around the $821 to $1,343 range. They anticipate this line will be carried in about 30 to 40 locations, including ‘Luisa Via Roma in Florence, HK Seibu in Hong Kong, No One in Moscow and Eickhoff in Düsseldorf.’

So LUX Nation, what do you think of this new line by the great-grandsons?
