LUX Love: Peggy Li Jewelry
Does this necklace look familiar? You may have seen Peggy Li’s jewelry on the stars of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice or Without a Trace. A far cry from her roots in chemical engineering, her major at Cal, she did find her inspiration in her college town. Her web site reads, “Peggy’s handmade jewelry design began with inspiration from the artisans on Berkeley’s famous Telegraph Avenue.” You can spot a piece by Peggy Li pretty easily. Her aesthetic is simple yet detailed. Whether it involves Bali charms or vintage finds, Peggy leaves her creativity on each and every piece. Peggy told LadyLux, “The designs are based on a love of color, whimsy, texture and contrast.”
Her Fall 2010 collection features organic shapes and symbols found in nature, such as leaves, turtles and lotus blossoms. Where did Peggy find her aesthetic? “I’ve always loved science and nature, having studied the sciences in college, and this influences everything I do. I also think that nature provides the best raw materials—better than anything man can make!”
Although her jewelry is affordable, Peggy doesn’t compromise quality for a good price. Only using precious metals, such as gold, silver and Bali silver, Peggy takes pride in producing pieces that will last you a lifetime. Out of her Fall 2010 line, the Peggy Li must-have has to be the wave links collection. The organically shaped ovals are layered in tiers, some dipped in gold fill for a variation in color, and create a conversation piece that will go with anything. What’s Peggy’s favorite piece for Fall? “I would recommend this Pearl Fringe Necklace. It comes on an oxidized sterling chain (or on gold-fill if you like), with a great peacock pearl in a gunmetal grey with hints of purple. It’s dark, mysterious, yet classic because of the pearls.”
Peggy takes pride in her work and wants to ensure that every customer walks out happy about the new design adorning their body, “I love giving women jewelry pieces that make women feel beautiful and confident”, said Peggy.
