Reebok Ventures into the NFL Maternity Line + Recruits Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Calling all LUX sport fans who happen to be expecting, a baby that is!! It seems Reebok has decided to launch a new maternity line aimed at those sport fans with buns in the oven!

It might be a simple comfy t-shirt for women, but it’s more like sexy attire from a ‘sport addict’ perspective. Just what every male sports lover might love to have their significant other wearing!! wink They always said love is in the simple things!! Right LUXies??

“Women love football because it brings the family together,” said Tiffany Coldwell, Reebok’s NFL women’s product manager. “We realized how women were buying the product, but then we were ignoring them for nine months while they were pregnant.”

Reebok is responding to their female consumer by addressing this 9-month gap with new sporty attire with affectionate phrases as ‘Kicker’ and ‘#1 Draft Pick’ embossed over the expecting mom’s belly!! Not to mention, there will be gift package options, which will include matching bib and an onesie for the little one, in addition to the cotton T-shirt for mommy-to-be.

“The NFL has tremendous amount of female fans,” Elisabeth tells WWD. “Watching a game can be a real family bonding experience, and I can tell you that the women behind the games are truly the most intense of the fans.”

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the ideal candidate to represent the brand since she is currently pregnant, an avid sports fan, and her husband, Tim, was a former NFL quarterback!

Reebok’s new collection will launch fall 2010 and will be available at most NFL team stores nationwide!! The suggested retail will be between $15-18 a piece.

As soon as I saw this announcement I thought about new expecting mommy Kendra Wilkinson, former playmate and now wife to NFL player Hank Baskett, and what she might say about this new line!! Not to mention all the other girlfriends of NFL players, like Kim Kardashian, and the many, others!!

So LUX Nation, we would love to hear from YOU. Do you believe this is a good direction for Reebok? Is this t-shirt something you would sport for your FAV team and NEW baby on board??
