Australian accessories website allows patrons to ‘try on’
A new e-commerce website in Australia, boutiqueaccessories.com.au, allows shoppers to try accessories on in a virtual mirror.
There’s no big science behind it, besides a computer. All you need is a webcam to see if your possible purchase will look good gracing your hands or dangling from your ears.
The website uses special technology, similar to Xbox Kinect, that detects your face and neck, and places the jewelry in the proper place. Boutique Accessories thinks it could be a great option for accessory shoppers, since jewelry is much easier to “virtually” try on than apparel.
As the site is integrated with Facebook, shoppers can snap a shot of the items and put it on Facebook to get advice from cyber friends before handing over the credit card.
