Radar: Lara Stone lands Calvin Klein ad campaign

Known as the hardest working model in the world, Lara Stone will now get her face out there with her new three-tiered campaign with Calvin Klein. Unusual for the iconic denim brand, she’ll be the star for all three of their brands—Calvin Klein Collection, ck Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein Jeans—something that the fashion house has never done in their 42 year history. Calvin Klein has been known for turning everyday models into superstars. Ever heard of Christy Turlington? But it’s hard to imagine Stone strutting any further. Already at the top of her game at 27 years old, she got her first contract with Elite at age 15 following a contest. However, it was her decision to switch to IMG in 2006 that catapulted her career, culminating in Stone’s opening for Givenchy Haute Couture in Paris.

Not unfamiliar with the Manhattan-based denim brand, Stone rocked the runway for Calvin Klein in 2007 as well as signed on as the face of Calvin Klein Jeans in 2007 and ck Calvin Klein beauty in 2008. “I have a long history with the Calvin Klein brand, and so it was wonderful to work with the house again this year,” Stone told Women’s Wear Daily. Francisco Costa, women’s creative director of Calvin Klein, conceded that he conceived the entire campaign with their favorite model in mind. He told WWD, “For me, Lara was the perfect choice for the new campaign because she is a woman who epitomizes confidence and sensuality”.

Some images of the campaign have been released. Nothing short of edgy, the new Calvin Klein Jeans campaign features Stone looking sexy as ever in skintight jeans. Her shots for ck and Calvin Klein Collection are more on the serious side, as she stares down the camera in a shadowy basement, or looks off into the distance in classic black and white.
