LUX Cause: MyGoodDeed and IMG Partnering in Honor of September 11

September 11, is a day that will forever be etched into our heads and has shaped so much of who we are today. A nonprofit organization, MyGoodDeed, was actually founded on this premise and has just recently announced a unique collaboration with IMG Fashion.

As a way to both honor those lives that were lost through this tragedy and make a positive difference, they have created an auction called ‘Runway to Service’ as a way to creatively raise funds for many charities during these more challenging times.

Their aim is to have different designers donate one piece of clothing from their spring collection for an online auction!! Some of the brands and designers who have already committed include: Donna Karan, Phillip Lim, Tommy Hilfiger, Rachel Roy, Carmen Marc Valvo, James Coviello, Charlotte Ronson, Milly, Tibi, Vivienne Tam, Tracy Reece, Rebecca Taylor, Max Azria, BCBG Max Azria and Hervé Léger

“We think the fashion community is one of the most important in this country,” said David Paine, president and founder of MyGoodDeed, adding the industry is comprised of “influencers” who can be instrumental in raising awareness of 9/11, which President Obama recently declared a National Day of Service and Remembrance.

IMG Fashion, known for their organization of New York Fashion Week, has always tried to find a creative way to honor this day during these times. Through this partnership, it helps to serve both needs as well model what we learned from that experience, that together ‘we stand.’ This clear demonstration of unity is both powerful and inspiring.

As you may expect, the auction will launch online on September 11. It will also run through September 30, so if you would like to be a part of making a difference for a great cause in a fashionable way, please visit 911dayofservice.org/runway.

Here at LadyLUX, we are all about making a collaborative difference and you can be sure that we will definitely be a part of this difference!! For this is the perfect example of ‘Good for the Sake of Good!’

What do you think LUX Nation? Is this something that you see yourself supporting? If so, we would love to hear from you?
