6 Shore Road’s contemporary beachwear

Is it readywear? Is it resortwear? With 6 Shore Road, it’s hard to tell. But one thing is easy to tell: Designer Pooja Kharbanda has created a beachwear collection positively made for kicking back.

One of the collection’s key selling points is the versatility – always key when packing for a getaway. With so many different styles able to be reincarnated into endless new options, the designer compares her designs to a chameleon.

“The brand is made up of effortless styles that easily transition from day to night or beach to the bar. It’s really about capturing the spirit of carefree days amongst friends while sipping champagne at the bar and dancing as the sun goes down,” Kharbanda said. “That’s the great thing about our collection. Each girl can bring her unique style and wear them in the city with a turban and flats or at the beach barefoot and braided hair.”

Kharbanda has always known she was the creative type. She grew up with a paintbrush and pencil in hand. But a career in design always seemed out of reach. After graduating with a major in finance, the designer found work in information technology. But the position lacked the creative outlet she needed, so she dived into fashion and created her own collection.

“Being a fashion designer was the unattainable dream and once I recognized the need for a lifestyle brand as 6 Shore Road, I had to plunge,” she said, explaining her decision to launch her own line.

She combined her analytical and financial skills and turned out a line that attempts to knock women off their feet with a “WOW factor.” Each season represents a new chance to find new inspiration.

The brand was born out of few lazy Sundays spent lounging at the Sunset Beach Hotel on Shelter Island. Kharbanda felt the need for something beyond a simple kaftan and cover-up. The resulting collection of cover-ups and coordinates is intended for a color lover who likes to look stylish and have her clothes do as well. Whether it’s a day at the beach or a day in the city, the carefree collection makes the perfect statement with its pastel colors and accenting jewel tones.

6 Shore Road walks the careful line between being on trend and attractive while still remaining affordable. From the handcrafted crochet Isla Grande Monokini to the Angelina Tail dress, the pieces are perfect for that dreamy vacation spent lounging in a bar and catching some surf.

“I’ve been a big a traveler and love flirty styles that can be transformed, so you’ll see a lot of inspiration from places I’ve grown up in or visited – through color, prints and embroideries,” Kharbanda declared.

The designer sees big things ahead. “We’ve grown quite a bit this season, so for now (we are) focusing on making each collection better and better!” she declared.
