AOL Launches Political News Site: PoliticsDaily.com

For those political news junkies that miss the style of old media with unique analytical content but prefer the digital platform, there is a new site in town. In response to America’s increased interest in political affairs, and their desire to stay informed, AOL has launched a new political news and blog website PoliticsDaily.com.

The site, which will primarily focus on in-depth political commentary as opposed to breaking news, will only provide original content, from long-form analysis to blog posts on issues in the U.S. political landscape.

Martin Moe, Senior VP of AOL, has called on New York Times Washington Correspondent Melinda Henneberger to lead a “dream team” of political journalists to fill what he sees as a hole in the political news market. Steering completely clear of aggregation, the site will include blogs with a specific, unique focus such as politics from a woman’s perspective and a focus on our first lady. Even though competition will be tough in this sphere, vying for traffic against media giants like the New York Times and The Huffington Post, Moe feels their product differentiates enough to clearly set PoliticsDaily.com apart from the rest.

PoliticsDaily will be 100% original content from “experienced” paid writers, and will be “poly-partisan” with perspectives from the liberals, centrists and conservatives.
