Awesome Austique
Just when you thought the ‘Net had topped out on charming boutique websites, another one comes along to tickle your fashion fancy. Located in London, the boutique Austique has been a favorite of those who shop the King’s Road ever since it opened its doors in 2004. Known for “girlie chic”, those who know it are lucky enough to snag their wares when in town; those who don’t now can do so from the comfort of their own living room.
For the holidays, Austique fashioned adorable red and white Christmas stockings (featured on Vogue.com no less) that came ready-filled with loads of goodies for good girls and boys, all individually wrapped. Even though December has come and gone, one can still shop the site for many fab finds, such as Madeleine Thompson’s cashmere beanie (in ivory, camel, ivory, light grey, or red), Felix Rey “Love” Chain Link clutch (a yellow smiley face printed on chain link finish and leopard print fabric lining would make even the most dour dowager happy); or Sexy Panties and Naughty Knickers Paradise set in black with green feather trim (yes, feather). And their choice of designers is killer, everyone from Buba to alice + olivia to Lounge Lover. Besides fashion, jewelry, lingerie, and accessories, Austique has a fabulous bath and beauty section and suggests gift ideas if you just can’t decide for yourself.
