Celebrating NYC: Southwest Opens ‘The Southwest Porch’ at Bryant Park

Calling all NYC travelers!! Southwest now flies direct to La Guardia airport (LGA), offering traveler scheduling ease and money savings.

As a way to celebrate this new flight schedule, Southwest has partnered with ‘wichcraft’ to open a relaxing place on the ‘Southwest Porch,’ to gather, to enjoy a refreshing summer drink, or a wonderful bite-size meal! Located in Bryant Park at the heart of midtown Manhattan, this location feels like a ‘homey’ backyard gathering but without the hassle of cleaning up after yourself!!

The menu is themed after different airport locations that will be served with direct flies into LGA by the popular and affordable carrier, such as soft-shell crab sandwiches from Baltimore, bratwurst from Chicago, and meatball parm from NYC. Partnering with ‘wichcraft, Southwest has had the opportunity to utilize the expertise of owner and chef, Tom Colicchio.

“Many people in New York probably know us through our TV ads, but may not have had experience flying us yet,” he said. “We think this is unique and different and we’re creating something experiential. We had to think differently about introducing our brand to the folks of New York City” –via press release

One of the coolest opportunities for locals to learn by visiting the ‘Southwest Porch’ is that brand ambassadors will be present each week to answer any questions they might have, help book flights and just talk about the frequent flyer program. This idea aligns with Southwest’s dedication to offer the ‘highest quality of customer service delivered with a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride and company spirit.’

So LUX Nation what do you think? Was this a creative hit or miss for the friendly carrier? Does this entice you to visit NYC and utilize this affordable alternative?
