Dior’s splashy Russian ad

Christian Dior is making some Russian moves. Not only is the famous French label planning an exhibition at Moscow’s Pushkin Museum and a relaunch of its boutique in Stoleshnikov, it also intends to situate its Lady Dior ad campaign in the fabled city, reported WWD.

The advertising image, which will be released in Vanity Fair in May, displays actress Marion Cotillard lounging in a luxurious golden room with St. Basil’s Cathedral visible in the distance through the window. Dior’s well-known red tweed handbag was sitting prominently smack in the middle of the picture.

The photo was actually snapped in Paris and then doctored, as a pregnant Cotillard was unable to travel to the Russian metropolis.

Other advertising installments from Dior have been located in Paris, New York, Shanghai and London.

Watch for the ad’s release in a variety of fashion magazines in May and June, including Town & Country, Elle, W and Vogue in the U.S.
